My Real Review: Dinner Cruise on Perfume River Hue Vietnam – So Romantic!
Dinner Cruise on Perfume River, Hue, Vietnam – A “Romantic” Vibe You Must Try. Hi everyone, I just got back from my Hue trip, and honestly, I’m still “drunk” on the feeling of floating on a dragon boat in the middle of the Huong River. If anyone asks me what’s the most worth-it thing to do in Hue, I wouldn’t hesitate to say: Go for a dinner cruise on Perfume River, Hue, Vietnam. Seriously, it feels totally different from sitting in a normal restaurant on land.

Why Choose a Dragon Boat Dinner?
To be honest, I was a bit worried at first, thinking it might be a “tourist trap” with bad food. But no! The vibe here is so unique. Sitting on a golden-painted dragon boat, feelin’ the river breeze, watching the Truong Tien Bridge change colors… suddenly you feel like a royal from the old days, lol.
Two Options for Travelers (Depending on your budget)
There are 2 main styles you can choose from:
This is for small groups of 1 to 9 people. Don’t worry about sitting with strangers; they still arrange private tables for each group like a restaurant, you just share the large boat.
- Price: Around 650.000 – 850.000 VND/person (Cheaper if you book online).
- Includes: Set menu dinner + “Ca Hue” (folk music) + releasing flower lanterns.
- Itinerary: Starts at 18:45 at Toa Kham Wharf (49 Le Loi). The boat moves at 19:00. The music starts at 20:00.
If you’re traveling with a big family or having a birthday party, just charter the whole boat! You get to pick the menu and even have karaoke if you want.

The “Royal” Menu – Was it good?
I took a photo of the menu I had, the names sound super fancy:
- Va Tom Ngu Uyen (Hue specialty, very nutty and tasty)
- Phoenix-shaped Spring Rolls
- Hue Style Pancakes
- Golden Shrimp Dance
- Imperial Beef Noodle style
- Lotus Seed Sweet Soup
The food was quite rich and authentic Hue style. Not exactly 5-star hotel level, but the atmosphere adds 10 extra points for sure!

My “Painful” Lessons (Tips)
- Try to be at Toa Kham Wharf around 18:40 to check in and get a good seat.
- Charge your phone! Releasing lanterns on the water is so peaceful, and you’ll want to record it.
- If you want to save money, you can choose basic menus from 220k (for private boats), which are still very filling.
Honestly, the dinner cruise on Perfume River, Hue, Vietnam, made me love Hue even more. It feels like time stops, no noisy city, just the sound of the zither and the water. If you’re visiting Hue, go book it now. Any questions? Just ask, I’ll tell you what I know!
