Tra Que Vegetable Village, a beloved destination for visitors to Hoi An, Quang Nam
Nestled just outside the vibrant heart of Hoi An, a renowned coastal city in central Vietnam, lies a charming vegetable village that French daily Le Figaro hailed as a “must-visit” destination in Southeast Asia in 2015.
Tra Que Vegetable Village, established over four centuries ago, is situated in Cam Ha Commune, a mere three kilometers northeast of Hoi An. The ancient town of Hoi An, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1999, is the village’s namesake.

The quaint village currently houses approximately 220 households, of which 130 specialize in cultivating vegetables across 40 hectares. These dedicated farmers supply organic produce to the entirety of Hoi An Ancient Town and its surrounding regions.
Tra Que vegetables stand apart from others due to their vibrant green color and exceptional taste and flavor, a testament to the villagers’ unique farming practices.
The village’s farmers eschew the use of manure or chemical fertilizers, opting instead for a specific type of algae found exclusively in the lagoon surrounding Tra Que.
Visitors to Hoi An frequently venture to Tra Que Vegetable Village to experience local life firsthand and participate in culinary classes that feature the region’s fresh produce.
