Where is Toa Kham Wharf for the dinner cruise with ca Hue music on the Perfume River, and how do I get there?

Toa Kham Wharf is right along the Perfume River, on Le Loi Street, in the center of Hue. It’s not tucked away or anything—just across from the big Century Riverside Hotel. If you’re already hanging around the Citadel or checking out the Dong Ba Market, you can walk there in maybe 10–15 minutes tops. It’s right where those dragon boats are usually docked. You’ll know you’re close when you see souvenir stalls, a couple of food vendors, and boats lined up along the riverbank.

How do I get there?

If you’re staying near the backpacker area on Pham Ngu Lao or Chu Van An, it’s a quick walk — around 1km or so. At a chill pace, it takes under 15 minutes. That’s what I did last time I went (early April 2024). We left the hotel at 5:45 PM and got there just in time for boarding at 6. You don’t need to stress about getting there early, but don’t cut it too close either, especially if you’ve booked in advance and they’ve got your name on the guest list.

Taking a taxi or a Grab? Just pin “Toa Kham Wharf” or “Bến Tòa Khâm” — Vietnamese spelling helps on the app. Most drivers know the spot, especially if you say “du thuyền nghe ca Huế” (Hue traditional music cruise). It’s a popular thing for both locals and tourists, so they won’t look at you funny.

If you’re riding a motorbike, there’s space to park right near the entrance. Just ask one of the boat operators or the folks nearby. Sometimes they’ll wave you over and help you park for a small fee — 5,000–10,000 VND. Keep a bit of small cash handy.

The cruise itself usually runs from 6:30 PM to 8 PM. And the river at night? Quiet, reflective, soft-lit by bridges and boat lanterns. The ca Hue performance isn’t flashy. It’s gentle, emotional — more about the vibe than the spectacle. If you’re into slow travel and taking in the atmosphere, this is worth it. But don’t go expecting a showy concert. It’s more like floating through history with music playing softly in the background.

Anyway, get to Toa Kham Wharf a little before boarding, maybe grab a sugarcane juice from a cart nearby, and just watch the river a bit. That part alone feels like its own kind of calm.
